What does science say?

Weight Trainer

There are several different circumstances that resistance training can help people and has been proven through science. For instance, it has helped in the elderly men and has helped those with PTSD.

  • A session of resistance training at 60% of one repetition maximum was able to modify the sleep pattern in men aged 65–80 years, suggesting that physical exercise has a modest influence on sleep consolidation.(Viana, V.A.R., Esteves, A.M., Boscolo, R.A. et al. Eur J Appl Physiol (2012).

  • Three weeks of high intensity resistance training can improve aspects of sleep and reduce anxiety in individuals who screen positive for PTSD (Whitworth J.W., Nosrat S., SantaBarbara N.J., Ciccolo J.T. (2019).
